Steve has lived in Taree for all of his ​life having attended both Taree West & Taree High schools. Now living in Chatham since 1992, his family had been associated with both Chatham Public and Chatham High Schools. Steve's father Raby Smith is from Taree & mother Kath was born in Wingham.
