About Matt Rees

With 20 years of IT infrastructure and project management experience, I turned my focus and skills to real estate in 2017. It wasn't an obvious choice for me given my unease with community distrust in real estate agents, but when approached to join an agency in Sydney's South West residential growth sector, who valued my strong relationship skills and authenticity, an enduring desire to do things differently was too much to ignore. As early as five years old I’ve been driven by “doing things differently” and maintaining an entrepreneurial mindset. So it was probably no surprise to my family and friends that I became a tech-savvy, client-centred real estate agent, determined to push boundaries and reshape the vendor and purchaser experience, and then open my own agency in my local Nor West area. With six years in Sydney’s South West growth sector, it’s time to bring my skills and experience to my local area, for the residents of Stanhope Gardens, Kellyville Ridge, Kellyville and The Ponds and for those in our ever expanding North West Growth Areas of Riverstone East and West, Box Hill, Vineyard and surrounding areas. Not working for one of the larger real estate agencies is a choice. I had that opportunity, and it was short-lived because I wasn’t able to be authentic. This caused me great unease and I walked away in 2020 and found a great fit in Sydney’s South West working with vendors whose property had been rezoned (this is called englobo real estate). These vendors needed someone on their side, an agent who could not only represent their interests in negotiations, but who had relationships with developers, investors and Council. They needed an agent who understood the nuances with selling rezoned properties such as how road layout can impact the value of your property, and how the timing of sewerage and services and developer contributions can shift a buyer’s interest, and therefore their offer. These residents also needed an agent with empathy and strong stakeholder management and relationship skills who could bring together multiple vendors and/or family members, if and when necessary, to achieve a successful outcome. So that’s me… A tenacious and nonconformist agent with experience in sales of $1.5m to $20m land parcels, and a personal investment property portfolio, I pride myself on working hard to live a life I don’t need a vacation from. You'll likely catch my wife Samantha and I walking our 3 fur babies Ozzy, CJ & Lemmy in a local Rouse Hill park.
