What do you love best about life in St George? |It’s always been home to me. I grew up in Beverly Hills and Penshurst, went to Sydney Technical High School at Bexley, and now live locally with my wife of 20 years and our two gorgeous kids. The natural beauty of the bayside walks, through Carss Park, Oatley, Sandringham and Dolls Point, never fails to inspire. Plus, I adore quality coffee, and feed my addiction through regular visits to my favourite local baristas and ‘caffeine dealers’. How has the local property market evolved over the years? Year-on-year growth is attracting astute buyers looking for a better quality of life and a better value proposition, as I believe the St George district is still relatively undervalued. There’s room for further growth and with increased activity from Gen X and Gen Y buyers, the local community is becoming more diversified. Rising property and land values are increasingly attracting bullish investment in terms of new home construction and speculative developers, bringing further balance to the market to complement the area lifestyle. Real estate is dynamic and the market changes day-to-day. What are some of the fundamentals that always ring true? We must always remember we’re in the service business. Everything revolves around the customer. When your approach is based on this code, navigating the best outcome for the customer comes naturally, and this is the key to satisfaction, both for the customer and the agent. I often return to this Ghandi quote so I never lose sight of my priorities: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. What’s the best part about your job? This is a rewarding career on a human level and I’m well aware that I’m in a privileged position. I have a fascination and deep appreciation of architecture, interior design, construction and all things quality, and my job enables me to indulge these loves while helping people along the way. Can you tell us something not many people know about you? I like to keep active. I’ve practiced and taught Wing Chun Kung Fu throughout my life, learning direct from extraordinary traditional Chinese Masters. I rise at 5am, five days a week, for intense cardio training. It’s a special time of the day with zero interruptions. I also have a long standing deep love of electronic dance music (EDM) and all things ‘house’, and it provides the backdrop to my mornings, afternoons and evenings. I’m obsessed!
