About this Property

An exacting and bespoke replica of a country Federation house, built from plans drawn for the owner's grandfather to be built in Dural in 1905, which was never realised - but with all the modern- day requirements.

Genuine and original items were obtained from all over NSW to ensure accuracy to detail - all the interior doors are original late 1800s/early 20th century Australian cedar, meticulously stripped of decades of paint and stained to bring them back to life. Original door locks and knobs used throughout. Hand painted ceiling roses, borders and cornices following traditional Late Victorian / Federation colour schemes complementing the 13-foot ceilings throughout the home.

All the windows in the house are custom crafted, having been copied from the kitchen window, which is a period original, to ensure all the windows are period accurate. The front door, including all the coloured glass and, the magnificent leadlight window in the ensuite came from a small convent in Manly, built in 1895 and demolished in the late 1980s. The interior fanlights are original, working and matching, featuring flannel flowers in their pink glass.

The home has polished 'Old' Jarrah wide plank flooring to the formal areas, with recycled pine on both the ceiling and floor in the kitchen/breakfast area to complete the country look. The kitchen benches are recycled from the floorboards of the historic Sydney Wool Stores overlooking Darling Harbour.

Front sandstone steps of Sydney Sandstone, locally sourced from Somersby, to access the
wide verandah across the front with rustic Jarrah timbers, and pine ceiling lining 10-foot raked ceilings.

Built from renowned Bowral bricks, as were many of the houses in the early 1900s, in accordance with the original plans - and specifically chosen and ordered in sufficient numbers for the house for contrast and consistency. Bricklayers were "auditioned" to ensure that they could distribute bricks and mortar with the precision and accuracy of the artisans of 1905 - and that accuracy is obvious, as the brickwork is laid impeccably.

The 6-car garage is located under the house and can be accessed from laundry by a small single person lift.

The 3-bedroom home, master with ensuite, is located on 26.3 acres and is surrounded by established gardens and natural bush. There is a spring water bore and a large continuous spring fed dam that sits in the lightly timbered paddock below the house and in over 50 years of ownership has never dried out. On site water storage includes 2 x 5000-gallon tanks.

There are 2 level and cleared paddocks comprising around 5 acres, one with large machinery shed, and the Dam paddock which is semi cleared around 4 acres including Dam.
