The main property was built circa 1850, and was held in the same family until c1880.
During the Goldrush it was a licensed venue trading as the Welcome Home Inn.

Architecturally significant the home features brickwork laid in "Flemish bond" pattern, the most attractive and perhaps the strongest of the traditional brick bonds. Side brickwork is in the traditional "English bond" on sandstone foundations.
