Looking for the most expensive house in Toorak isn’t easy—with its picturesque, tree-lined streets and exquisite homes, multimillion dollar properties are a dime a dozen.
Toorak is one of the richest suburbs of Melbourne. Spacious, elegant and liveable, it’s not wonder that this charming suburb is highly favoured by Australia’s elite and home to the most expensive street in Melbourne.
And the proof is in the pudding—the value of real estate in the area has swelled into the millions. From the 47 Lansell price record of $40 million, to the most recent $80 million mystery buy, let’s get into the history of the most expensive Toorak homes and also check out the most expensive houses on sale right now.
29-31 St Georges Rd
- Sold: 2022
- Price: $80 million
Topping the Victorian price benchmark and taking first prize as the most expensive home in Toorak was 29-31 St Georges Road Toorak, sold for a whopping $80,000,088, according to The Age.
Snagged in an off market deal by crypto king Ed Craven, the price was surprising given the property’s near derelict condition. But the crypto platform billionaire plans to revamp entirely, building a brand new house on this 7,200 square metre block.
This may not be the most expensive house in Australia, but it definitely broke the local record, and cemented Toorak as the priciest neighbourhood in Melbourne.
Blair House, 17 St Georges Road
- Sold: 2022
- Price: approx $75 million
In the very same week of the 29-31 St Georges Road (mentioned above), the iconic Blair House also set a price record. While the final price is unknown, it was listed at $65-$75 million.
Staying relatively private, very few photos of the home were released to the public. We see a gorgeous red brick home, tennis court, and only two photos of the light-filled interiors. But the luxury is evident, from the walled garden fencing, to the stone sculpture in the circular driveway.
47 Lansell
- Sold: 2021
- Price: $40 million
Sold at auction for just above $40 million was the prized 47 Lansell Road mansion. Five bedrooms, four bathrooms, six carparks and 33,000 square metres near the Yarra River is what you’re getting.
Just two years prior, the house had been on the market again for half the price. And after being renovated by international designers, Helen Green Design Studio, Carr design group and renowned landscaper Paul Bangay, the mansion remerged and dazzled.
With a separate bar and entertainment room, formal dining space, reception room, home theatre, three kitchens and an indoor-outdoor room with a teppanyaki grill, it is the entertainer’s dream.
