The pub is located in McKinlay, North Queensland, and has been a popular tourist attraction since the success of the 1986 box office hit, attracting hundreds of people for a refreshing beverage every day.
Paul Collins, the current owner of the Walkabout Creek Hotel, listed the property for sale after 23 years running the pub, deciding the time had come for a change in pace.
Collins said he loved working in the remote location, but it would take a special kind of person to take on the 18-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week job.
The hotel – built in 1900 – was formerly known as the Federal Hotel. It wasn’t until after 1986 when Paul Hogan featured in the film Crocodile Dundee that the pub’s name was changed to the Walkabout Creek Hotel.
The property is on the market for $1.25 million.
